10 Ways To Build A Strong Team In 2021

In a year of working from home, cafe’s and most recently boffices (a bed turned office in case you’re wondering…) it’s safe to say the usual way of our working world has been turned on its head. We shared our thoughts on How To Stay Connected With Your Teammates a few months back which inspired us to think about how we’ll be improving our working relationships in the new year. So, without further ado, here are 10 ways to build a stronger team in 2021. We’d love to know what you think!

Set Goals Together
Setting short and long-terms goals should be the foundation for every task your team set out to complete. Being involved and excited about the outcome will provide a sense of the bigger-picture and keep motivation levels high.

Seek Input and Ideas
You hired your team for a reason so make sure they're doing the job they
want to do. Taking their ideas on board and actively asking for input on a regular basis can really help to make a team feel united.

Frequent Catch Ups
This one should be a no brainer, but in case you need a reminder, scheduling frequent catch ups to review tasks, talk through any sticky points, or have a general chin wag will always improve communication. Why not take the meeting outside for a “talk and walk”?

Celebrate Success and Failures
Celebrating your team’s milestones is a fab way to bring everyone together and create a sense of inspiration. It’s a perfect example of what can be achieved when we all knuckle in. And, if something didn’t go quite right, you can come together to reflect on your efforts and turn it into something a little more positive instead. Every obstacle is a lesson!

Be Complimentary
The second most popular things employees say they’d like more of at work is praise. We recommend finding time to tell people positive words, as just one piece of praise per day can increase productivity by 30%.

Team Bonding
It’s important to step away from the desk every once in a while and do something that doesn’t involve spreadsheets, zoom calls and KPI’s. We put a list together of
fun activities you can do with your team so make you sure you check them out.

Small Gestures
We’re talking funny messages on sticky notes, a good-morning coffee, or even their favourite treat on a Friday afternoon. Small gestures such as these will really make a lasting impression and show your appreciation for their hard work.

Learn More
Do you really know your team? Take the time to find out who they are outside of work and we guarantee it’ll make working relationships stronger than ever. We like the Briggs Personality Test to see which different personality types your team is made up of!

How Are You, Really?`
A simple one, but maybe the most effective. Checking in on our team mates wellbeing is more important than ever right now, so a quick message can go a long way. It’ll also help to break any trust barriers you might be experiencing.
